Tribute to our Sister: Mrs Ogedishukanma Christiana Ukponu How do we start to write a tribute to my beloved sister, sister in law and a mother figure who we popularly call “Aunty Oge” Hearing of your sudden demise was enough rude shock to cope with and realizing now writing this tribute, that we may not physically hear your gentle voice, wise counsel, regular prayer texts and occasional calls again is too much a bitter pill to swallow. Aunty Oge, you were an enigma while alive, a lover of God, a prayer warrior, strong shoulder to lean on especially when the waters are ruffled. You are always ready to calm frayed nerves whenever the occasion demands. You taught us to always believe in God, dropping our burden at His feet. Your selfless life of humility and service to others is worthy of emulation. You were an embodiment of Christ like love. Our son Emeka, still relishes the beautiful memories of his brief stay with you and your family, when he came for his NYSC orientation camp at our hometown,Issele-Uku, Delta state, few years back. I didn’t know you came to bid us farewell at your last brief visit to our house in Lagos. Our belief is that , together we shall cover the eyes of our dear mother like we did for our dear Dad, but that is not to be now. The Lord decided to call you home before her because He loves you. Our prayers and thoughts go to your beautiful children and husband, for God to comfort and strengthen them at this crucial time of your physical departure. Despite our pain, we take solace in the fact that, you have gone to be with the Lord, who you love so much and served faithfully. Sleep on our beloved sister, we shall meet again at our Savior’s feet to part no more. ‘Kunle, Nkechi Abiade and family.
